- When we are playing Dukey Dukey John we get a row of people to stand behind each other.
Some two people go away and decide on two things such as an apple and an orange and one is to be the apple and the other is to be the orange.
Then they come back again and hold up their hands together and say,
Dukey, Dukey, John
Let them all pass on
The hindmost man
Catch him if you can.
Then the row of children pass under their hands and then they catch the last man and ask him whether he would rather have an apple or an orange. If he says an apple he goes behind the one who chose the apple and if he says an orange he goes behind the one who chose the orange. Then they go on like that till the row is divided up into two lots then the two lots pull against each other to see which lot can pull the best and after that the game is finished.- Collector
