  1. Our landlord was Montgomery. He was a very cruel man. He evicted fifteen families and put them out of their homes. His people was about this place for years and years. He built a great castle on the grounds overlooking Lough Belhavel. There was a room in it for every day in the year and it was a four-storey house. He collected rents. If a man had ten cows he would have to give one of them to the landlord for the parson. The last of them were out breaking stones to get money. The land was divided into farms under his guidance.
