  1. Lime burning is a very old industry and extends back for many generations. The methods employed are much the same as they were hundreds of years ago. The lime kiln is built in the shape of a barrel, with this difference, that it is a little narrower at the bottom than the top. The kiln is usually built inside with sandstone outside of which is a mixture of blue or yellow clay mixed with stones and about 18 inches
