  1. A cure for a sore throat.
    Get a silk stocking. Fill it with warm salt. Then tie the stocking round the sore throat. In the morning the soreness will be gone.
    A cure for mumps.
    Get a donkeys bridle. Put it on you. Get someone to lead you round a pig sty. Bless yourself at each corner. In a few days you will be better.
    A cure for a cough.
    Get the following:
    1lb flaxseed
    1 lb sugarcane
    1/2 glass vinegar
    1/2 glass brandy.
    Boil the flaxweed in two qrts of water, and strain. Put in the above named things. Let it stand still to cool. Take a 1/2 glass each morning and night. In a few days the cough will be gone.
    A cure for a corn.
    Get 1/2 an onion dip it in paraffin oil. Rub well to the corn. In a few days the corn will be gone.
    A cure for a sore chest.
    Get a sheet of brown paper. Make a waistcoat of it. Then get a tallow candle, melt it on the paper. Put the paper on the chest. In the morning the soreness will be gone.
