  1. Long ago, a castle was situated among the trees on the left side of the Tarbert Island road.
    Three workmen and a foreman were sent to clear away the ruins. About dinner time they were digging up the foundation and came upon a big flag. They did not dig it up but left for their dinner.
    While the men were at their dinner the foreman came back and dug up the flag.
    To his surprise he found a pot of gold sovereigns. He afterwards built three houses in Tarbert Windles, the Dispensary and Finucane's.
    There is buried in the same place a litter of gold bonhams, but as it is thought unlucky to dig them up no one has attempted it.
