  1. 1470. This abbey was built by OConnor, Kerry, of Carrigafoyle and was inhabited by Franciscan Friars.
    1478. Dedicated by permission of Sixtus IV.
    1580.
    On April 6th the abbey was destroyed by English soldiers. The friars saved themselves by flight, with the exception of three, who were martyred while praying before the high altar.
