  1. There was a hedge school in Tarmons for many years. Mr. Patrick Lane taught in this hedge school.
    This school was built at a ditch on the road in order that there was as little damp as possible. This schoolmaster was a stranger. The school children used to pay the master so much a month. The original subject was all Irish and in later years it was all English.
