  1. I Old Abbeys were used formerly for religious purposes. The are now in a state of decay, and only in exceptional cases are any of them kept in repair. there is an old abbey in Kilglass cemetery. It is in a bad state of decay, and would have tumbled to the ground, long ago, only for the ivy growing up around it.
    II A story is told that some Kilglass boys stoned the monks there in olden days, and the monks cursed them, saying there will not be any Kilglass boy ordained a priest for the future. The remains of several people are buried inside Kilglass abbey.
