    I.
    Now my thoughts wander back to the days long ago_
    To the bloom of the Nonneen's in County Sligo,
    To the dawn of my life free from sorrow or sob.
    When I first heard the cricket just under the hob.
    II
    As the bright sun each morning shone down o'er the braes.
    And the linnets were lilting their beautiful lays
    By the hearthstone I'd linger and list to the throb,
    Of the cricket a singing just under the hob.

    In the midst of the glamour, Tom, Jack or Ned Owen.
