    if he competed. Richard used walk to Listowel Horse fair which is a distance of 18 miles and return the next day. Clearing gates and ditches were but small obstacles in the way of this versatile hero as he could jump 6 1/2 feet at his ease. He neglected himself as he revelled too much and thus his strength and agility were sapped. He still lives and carries on the business as a Smith at Springfield. He is about 55 years old.
