  1. Candles
Long ago candles were made in the following way. The fat of cows and goats was melted into a liquid state. Where in this condition it was poured into moulds which contained a piece of cotton tread tightly drawn through the centre of the mould. The moulds were made of tin, and varied in the size according to the size of the candle required.
    Dyeing
Put down as much water as would required to cover the article, when the water is boiling, throw down the dye and let it boil for about twenty minutes.
Then put down the article and let it boil for a half an hour. Take it up and wash it clear and put it out to dry.
