  1. Weather Lore
There are various signs of rain. The sky looking a dark colour, and the sun becoming pale foretells rain. A halo or ring round the moon tells us that bad weather is not far off. Quick moving clouds across the sky indicates rain.
Rainy weather is expected when the wind changes to the south or south-west. It is expected when the swallows fly near the ground, or when the sea-gulls are to be seen seen on the land. The frog changes from a yellow to a brownish colour also. Storm is approaching when the mountains look nigh. The cat lies with her back to the fire when it is expected. If the cows are to be seen running with the heat in summer it is a sure sign of rain.
