  2. During the bad times in this part of the country many people were on the verge of starvation. There was no work, no employment and no food as the potatoe crop failed. It was during those times of need that a most desperate attempt was made to proselytize the people, that is to make them forsake their faith.
    Soup schools were started all over Ireland. We had one of those schools here in Caragh Lake. Amongst the converts, who were afterwards
