- This is a true story. Long ago three men worked together in a quarry in Dunkitt. Now these were wicked, bad and cruel men. One day a Robin in came and began picking their lunch. One of them picked up a stone and hit the bird but did not kill it. They caught the bird and while it was yet alive one of them cut off its legs, another cut off its wings and the other plucked out its eyes. The bird died but not long afterwards these three men were blasting out a rock and whatever happened the charge did not explode so they had to bore down in the ground and take up the explosives. When they had bored down a good depth the explosion occurred and the man who cut off the Robin's legs had his own legs cut off and the man who cut off the Robin's wings had his own arms cut off and(continues on next page)
