  1. A princess of the O'Meagher Clann was married to a Limerick Dane. Her relations were not pleased with this, but strange as it may seem, her marriage saved Roscrea on one occasion, from the ravages of the Danes.
The princess heard the Danes say, that they would attack the town of Roscrea. She sent a messengar immediately to tell the O'Meagher Clann, so that they would be ready for attack. The O'Meagher had his soldiers ready.
The Danes came on June 29th, 845. On this day there was a great aonach being held in Roscrea. The O'Meagher clansmen, and their followers , their neighbouring chiefs, and merchants from all over the country , and foreigners too, drove the Danes back over Carrick Hill, and Roscrea was saved.
