  1. Every house-keeper makes bread. Home-made bread is much better than bought bread.
    This is how a soda cake is made. First a basin is got. Then a few handfuls of flour is got into it. A porringer-full of butter milk with a pinch of salt, in it, is then poured on the flour. It is all mixed up, and made into dough and put in the oven to bake. The Sign of The Cross is cut on it and it is left beside the fire.
