  1. The Hens.
    We have seventy-four hens at home. They are all Rhode-Island Reds. They are good layers and are nice to eat. We get about two dozen eggs every day. We collect them twice a day.
    When they begin to "clock" we put them in a "run" and we feed them on oats and we give them water to drink.
    Every day we feed them twice or three times. We give them boiled, mashed potatoes and boiled, mashed turnips and we mix pollard and clarendo and we also mix hot milk
