The wild birds common in this district are the robin, thrush, starling, bull-finch, gold finch,chaffinch blackbird, sparrow, lark, stone-pecker, wren, golden wren, yellow yarling, swallow, cuckoo, crow, crane, curlew, lark, magpie, corncrake, pheasant, pigeon, cormorant, wild duck, wild goose, partridge, teal, grouse, water-hen, hedge sparrow, swan, snipe, bog lark, wagtail, sand lark, wood cock, king fisher, seagull, tom tit, stone checker, grey thrush, plover, owl, linnet, swift, bat, and jackdaw.
    The robin builds her nest in the side of a ditch. She lays five small eggs, and hatches them for three weeks. She makes a small nest of moss, hair, and feathers.
    The thrush makes her nest of hay, and plasters it with mud all round inside, Thrushes build their nest in a thick hedge or in a whin bush. The female thrush lays four spotted eggs, and sits on them for a month.
    The blackbird makes her nest of little twigs, clay and hay. She lays five blue eggs and hatches them for a month.
