- Once upon a time there was a blacksmith by the name of Jack working in a forge. He had nearly lost his trade by drinking and getting drunk. One day as he was sitting on the hob the devil came in and asked him what was the trouble and Jack told him. The devil gave some money and told Jack that he would have to go with him at the end of twelve years. When the twelve years were up the devil came and called him to go. "I believe that is a hot spot down there" said Jack and he would not go to hell with him. When Jack died he went to the gates of heaven and he would not be let in there and then he went to hell and the devil would not let in(continues on next page)
