  1. The names of the fields etc. on my farm at home are the Bottoms, the Potatoe Field, Peggy's Corner, The Big Gate, Duffy's Gap, The Shrubbery, Tom Coyle's Hill, Mary's bush, The New Gate.
The Potatoe field is so called because potatoes were grown in it.
Long Field is so called because it is longer than it is wide. Peggy's Corner is so called because a woman named Peggy Gibney lived there. Tom Coyle's hill is so called because a man named Tom Coyle lived there. Mary's Bush is so called because Mary Sheridan lived there beside the bush.
