  1. One time a man from Crossbane was on his way home after a [?] and he had to cross fields to his house.
    It was about 12 oc and rather dark.
    He saw a little humpy old man sitting with his back to the ditch and his heels in the drain but his face was nearly hidden under a big hat.
    The man from my place caught hold of the hat but the men under it disappeared.
    The men kept the hat for three years but his wife made him leave it back at the fort.
