- When we are sitting round the fire on a cold night, we get a lighted stick for a robin. One person holds the red stick in his hand and says the following old (?) rhyme:-"A robin alive and alive you shall be;
If you die in my hand it will be worse for me
Through a rock through a reel
Though an old spinning-wheel
And away goes robin alive from me,Then he gives it to the next person and he too says the rhyme. Whoever the robin dies with (that is whoever the stick goes out with) gets a slap.- Collector
