- Near Ballyheane grave-yard there is an old holy well. It is said that one of Cromwell's soldiers found a child crying where it now stands.
Several people who are suffering from certain complaints visit this holy well, and hundreds of them have been cured. There is another holy well near Ballintubber abby. This well was blessed by St Patrick on his way to the Reek.
