  1. The famine years were 1846 and 1844. The potato crop failed and the people had nothing to eat and they died in thousands. There were more people in the village before the famine taht there are now. There was plenty of food in the country but it was all shipped over to England.
    It was in the ground the potatoes failed. The winter of 1846 was terrible in many homes but still it was not not too bad as they were cattle and sheep to be eaten.
