- If you saw a black cat when going a journey you would have good luck. The old people firmly believed in this superstition. They used to say if you saw a magpie on a tree near the house you would get a letter. The old people used always burn a tea-paper in the fire and if a bit of it remained unburned they would be sure of getting a letter. The old people used to do this regularly and believe in it too.
The old people say if you meta weasel on the road you will have no luck. A good few years ago a woman was going to Mass and a weasel crossed the road before her. She did not go to Mass that Sunday but returned(continues on next page)- Collector
