- Long ago when St Patrick was in Ireland he came to a village of Aughagower.
There is a well beside the grave yard there called St Patrick's well. When he was going down a hill a number of hounds came to tear him. St Patrick made the sign of the cross with his stick on the ground and the hounds were afraid to go near him. Since that they called the place where the hill is Cluain Da Chon.- Collector
