The weather has a great effect on churning. The dash has a long handle about three and a half feet long attached to the head which is widely perforated so as to allow the cream to pass through freely. Churning can be done everyday at the present time since the separating machines became so plentiful. Cream that is separated in the evening from the milk can now be churned and butter made next morning. Butter can be made at the present time whenever cream is available. But small farmers usually churn but once a week in Winter - on Friday and Tuesdays in Spring and Summer.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
