    Christmas night when turning the spit.
    I burned my finger
    I feel it yet.
    Between the finger and the thum
    There rose a blister
    As big as a plum
    Christmas comes but once a year
    And when it comes
    It brings good cheet
    But now 'tis gone
    I'm sorry to say
    And it wont come back
    For another long year
    So up with the kettle
    And down with the pan
    Give us our answer
    And let us be gone
