  1. A funeral procession is not supposed to go a short cut to the graveyard. A person meeting a funeral is supposed to turn and walk four or five steps after it. When removing the coffin from the house it is supposed to be carried out feet foremost. The nearest relatives are supposed to carry the coffin.
In former times snuff and tobacco were handed round at wakes.
