- I have a churn at home. Its height is four feet, its width is 1 foot, 6ins both at top and bottom. It is four ears old. The mark that is on the lid of the churn, is, No. C. Mellotte Separator, Bristol Sales, Co Ltd.
Butter is made once each week in Winter and twice in Summer. My father and mother do the churning.
Strangers who come in during the churning take a "brash"; people say if they didn't, it would take longer to churn.
The churning takes from a half hour and a quarter, to one hour.
Our churn is a tumbling churn. It is done by hand, it is twisted round and round, it is rocked from side to side and when it is done,(continues on next page)- Collector
