  1. Their once lived in Carragolda an old man named James Howley.
    He had only one son named James. One day his son went to the fair in Kiltimagh. He stayed in town until dark, and when he came home his father was not in the house.
    James went out searching for his father but he failed to get him. He searched the place up and down the next day but he did not see any sight of him.
    One night when James was in bed he heard a noise outside the house, like if a lot of people were talking.
    He thought that he heard his father talking. The next moment he heard a knock at the door.
