  1. There once lived in Carragolda a man named Tom Higgins.
    One night as he was coming home from Foxford he got a blow of a stone on the back. He stood up and looked back to see who was behind him but he failed to see anyone.
    He went a bit farther and he got another blow.
    He thought it came from inside the ditch, and he looked inside and could not see anything.
    He started on walking, and at last he saw two men coming out of an old house on the side of the road. They went a long way with the man. At last the man asked them who they were, and
