My dear friends, we have met in love to-night, In Columbia's tranquil shore,
Three thousand miles from green Erin's hills,
That I never shall see more,
The far dearest of these hills, than any other is to me,
That for hill that gave me birth I call it the village of Leckee.It's there I often listened a a whole long day,
To the thrush and black-bird sing,
For more sweeter notes the cuckoo calls off the holy tree,
It's there I often viewed the corn crops,
All blooming in their prime,
From Mayo to Sligo, along the Ox Mountain's side,
(My friends, I bid goodnight to you I neer shall see you.)
