for a long drive in cars. When they return to the house of the bride they have a great feast, eating , and drinking, singing and dancing. The boys' from around the village dress up in old clothes. They wear masks on their faces and straw bound around their legs. They are called "straw-boys". These boys are lead in by a "captain". The "captain" asks the bride to dance. If she refuses, there is great confusion. They all get a great feed of bacon and cabbage and plenty of porter. Long ago a great number of them went on horse-back to see who would reach home first . Some wives sat on the horses with their husbands.
