"There are twelve months all in a year
    I heard my mamma say.
Two of them I choose to love

The other months I choose to wed
When the small birds sweetly sing"
"Lá na leanabh" is considered the unlucky day for marriage. It is reckoned thus if "lá na leanabh" falls on a Monday then Monday during that year will be considered an unlucky day for a couple to unite. Lá na leanabh being the 28th December.
The four feast days at Xmas being
Lá Nodlag - 25ad lá de Mí Nodlag
Lá'l Stiofáin 26ad lá de Mí Nodlag
Lá'l Eóin 27adh lá de Mí Nodlag
Lá na leanabh 28adh lá de Mí Nodlag
Matches are made in the district.
