    (ii Marriages take place most frequently in this locality during Shrove Time that is during the period between Xmas and Ash Wednesday.
    "There are twelve months all in a year
    I heard my mamma say.
    Two of them I choose to love
    The months of June and May
    These are the months I choose to love
    When the red-red roses spring
    The other months I choose to wed
    When the small birds sweetly sing"
    "Lá na leanabh" is considered the unlucky day for marriage. It is reckoned thus if "lá na leanabh" falls on a Monday then Monday during that year will be considered an unlucky day for a couple to unite. Lá na leanabh being the 28th December.
