- (continued from previous page)A great many herbs grow in Barnacoola, and nearly every one of them are of some use. The following is a list of some of the herbs which are found growing in this parish:- Dandelion, watercress, comphrey, clover, balm, docking root, marshmallow, garlic, ivy leaves, purple daisies and the jaundice herb.(continues on next page)
- The danelion is good for a bad stomach. It is also used for making wines.
Docks cure the sting of a nettle by rubbing the juice of the dock on the place where the sting is.
Plantain leaf cures a sore, by putting the leaf to the sore and putting the bandage outside of it.
To boil the root of the mullen plant make a plaster of it is good to heal any kind of a sore.
Kettles contain a large amount of iron and when boiled like cabbage are very good for the health.
