  1. When the men, were coming back from the battle of Ballinamuck, there was one man who was not able to keep up, to the rest and the soldiers were over-taking him. He came to Sandy O'Neill's house, and outside he saw Mrs O'Neill spreading clothes on a hedge. When she saw him she took him up in her arms and left him lying, and spread the clothes over him.
When the soldiers came, they asked Mrs O'Neill did she see any people passing by, and she said she did and they went ahead. That night Mrs O'Neill got him conveyed home.
