- In olden times people used to make rush candles. They made twelve on the sixth of January in honour of the twelve apostles. At night the people lit the twelve candles and said the rosary.
They saved whatever ashes were left over when the candles were burned out.
Any time a person belonging to the house had a stone-bruise they boiled sweet milk and put some of the ashes into it. When the milk was boiled they poured it on the stone bruise and it became better very soon. - You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
