  1. In Michael Kennedy's farm in Dooncaha, there is a fort known as the Monakyle.
My father, Michael Scanlon, told me the following story about this spot.
Years ago, a man walked through the fort at midnight.
He went home, went in to bed, and slept soundly for a while.
He was wakened out of his sleep and carried back to the fort. This happened three nights in succession.
On the fourth day he told his story to a neighbour.
The friend told him to make the sign of the cross on himself with holy water just as he was ready for bed.
He did so and had perfect peace.
