  1. Many years ago toys were scarce and simply made. A woman of ninety years of age showed me a doll belonging to her grandmother. She treasures it and promises to leave it to me when she is dying.
    In summer, in the days gone by, little girls spent many hours picking rushes.
    Out of these rushes they made little hats which they called "Cubnín Cub". When the hat was finished, flowers were put around the crowns.
    Then a "bastún" was made from 12 very long rushes, tied together with another long rush.
    When the Cubnín Cub and bastún were finished, the little girls marched round the field singing merrily.
