    A woman is a very unwelcome guest. People wait till the clock strikes 12 and then the darkest haired man in the house goes out the door and returns to wish all a happy New Year. He sometimes brings in a small present.
    2. If a friend gives you money on New Year's Day, you will be rich for the year.
    3. A straw taken from the Crib on Little Xmas Day will bring prosperity to the one who puts it in his purse.
    4. If a man dies between Big and Little Xmas his soul is sure to go to heaven.
