    In most cases the bride and bridegroom never met, or even saw each other until their wedding day.
    The fathers of both parties met and made the matches. The father of the girl paid the money to the bridegroom's father. The larger the man's farm is, the more money is paid down.
    On the morning of the wedding the parties met at Church and the bride was given away by her father,
