    underground passage connecting the two forts in case the inhabitants would be attacked at one fort they could escape by the underground tunnel to the other fort. All the forts are supposed to be the same distance apart.
    The forts around Ballyculhane are all circular in shape and there are fences of earth four feet high all around, and trees grow on top of the earth.
    There is a fort in Doonard up the Listowel road called Fennel's fort and light was seen there.
