    up. While he is doing this the cream is bubbling in and out through the holes. There was a cup for the spatters. Churning took one hour.
    Butter was made twice a week in Summer and weekly in Winter. If any person came in while the butter was being made he put his hand to it. This was in order that he might not take away the good of the churning.
    My grandmother's brothers used to churn. How they used to know when the butter was made is, because the butter used to come up on top of the milk. It used only take a few minutes to take the butter off.
