There is no custom paid in Tarbert or in Glin but there is in Listowel. You pay a penny toll on each bonhams and three pence or six pence per head on cows. The toll money in Listowel goes to the Earl of Listowel.
When a bargain has been made the farmer allows "luck-penny". He holds out his palm, and the buyer clinches the deal by striking it.
Usually "jobbers" work in "companies". If the leader fails, one after another of his followers will offer a decreasing sum. When the leader comes back(continues on next page)- Collector
