    One night in Ardfert during the time of the Xmas a lorry of tans came here. They went into a public house and saw some of the republicans. They, of course, drew their attention to them as they began to threaten the tans. One of the tans told them to get out and one of the republicans named Tom Driscoll said they would not. At once the Tans began to get angry. They struck Driscoll. Driscoll beat them with sticks, guns and boots so they had to let him alone.
