  1. Ardfert is the name of my home district. Conners, Sullivans and Dowlings are the principal names around here. It is in the barony of Clan-Maurice. There were nearly five hundred people living there before the famine and there are about two hundred of them there now because a lot of them emigrated. There are about six people over seventy years of age in the parish. The houses are nearly all two storey slated houses with a thatched here and there.
