- There was an old man living in Glenbeigh long ago. He died and left his property to his son who was married. There was a parlour in the house and every night the ghost of the old man used to be seen dropping from the ceiling and standing in the middle of the floor.
One day the son went to the market to hire a boy.
The boy was such a good worker that his master said he would give him two mens' pay if he would stay in the parlour until the ghost came, and tell him what he said. When he went into the parlour on the following morning he found the boy dead.- Collector
