  1. Muc Duff was so called because the time of the Rebellion the Orangemen invaded Co Sligo as they were marching on Muc Duff, they were encountered by a Big Black Pig at Devlin Bridge that met them face to face and they put up an awful battle with her. They had to put twelve shots in in her side, before she was slain, and since that day the place is so called Muc Duff.
