    Where the green ivy clings round the door
    And the brown thrushes sing from each tree
    To my darling their sweet notes they pour

    Of cattle cows corn and wealth.
    Broad lands by the wide Avonmore
    While I have my youth and my health
    She is the sweet maid I adore
    And her fond love is plighted on me
    Without riches or bright gold in store
